Staff and Accreditation
One Step is fully licensed by the Thai Ministry of Health and has a clinical staff to client ratio of 1:1. Our clinical team bring educational qualifications from institutions in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. Our multidisciplinary team consists of:

The One Step Rehab Team
One Step Rehab has one of the most experienced management teams in the Thai rehab sector. Our founders have garnered a global reputation due to their pioneering work in developing the Thai Rehab sector. They are also recognized as pioneers of the physical fitness approach to addiction recovery and for emphasizing metabolic health through their Five-Pillar program.
Alastair Mordey
Program Director & FounderAlastair Mordey is the founder of One Step Rehab and one of the early pioneers of private addiction treatment in Asia. With over twenty years' experience in the field, he began his career in the early 2000s working in frontline harm reduction and community drug and alcohol services in North London, supporting complex cases including street homelessness and intravenous drug use.
In 2010, Alastair moved to Thailand and became a founding shareholder and Chief Clinical Architect of The Cabin Addiction Services Group, helping to build one of the region's first internationally recognised treatment providers, operating across multiple countries. As Global Program Director, he designed and implemented the clinical model and treatment systems that would go on to be widely adopted across private rehabs in the Asia-Pacific region.
Alastair has overseen the treatment of thousands of clients from around the world and is a recognised voice in addiction recovery, regularly contributing to international publications and speaking at major conferences including ICAAD and WCASD. He is trained under the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS) and is an accredited member of Addiction Professionals UK (APUK), reg. no. 1422.
Craig Cagnon
Clinical DirectorCraig Cagnon is an American counselling psychologist and addiction specialist with over 16 years' experience working in Southeast Asia, alongside 37 years of personal recovery. He holds Master's degrees in Community Counselling and Counselling Psychology and completed his clinical residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Craig has designed and directed multiple addiction treatment programmes across the region and previously served as a Staff Psychologist at the United Nations headquarters in Bangkok. His work has focused on developing effective, culturally adaptable treatment models for international client populations.
He specialises in addiction, anxiety disorders, and cross-cultural mental health, and has been featured in publications including the Bangkok Post, BBC Asia, Prestige Magazine, and Wanderlust. He is widely regarded as one of Thailand's leading therapists working with the expatriate community.
David Kaff
Senior Addictions CounsellorDavid Kaff is an addictions counsellor with over a decade of experience in the field, beginning his career in 2011 within harm reduction services in Sydney, including frontline work in needle and syringe programmes.
He later transitioned into residential treatment, working across a range of 12-step based rehabs in Australia. He completed formal training in mental health and addiction counselling before going on to earn an Honours degree in Social Work from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Since relocating to Thailand in 2017, David has held clinical roles across several leading rehabilitation centres, continuing to develop a practical, client-centred approach to recovery.
Dr. Worapakthorn Kongpesalaphun
Consultant PsychiatristDr. Worapakthorn Kongpesalaphun (known as Dr To) is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in addiction treatment, public health, and psychiatric care within Thailand's government healthcare system. He is currently affiliated with the Department of Medical Services at Thanyarak Mae Hong Son Hospital.
He earned his medical degree from Rangsit University and completed his psychiatric residency at the Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry. In addition to his medical training, he has pursued advanced studies in Public Health, Political Science, and Business Administration, reflecting a broad understanding of both clinical care and healthcare systems.
Dr. Kongpesalaphun has held senior leadership roles including Acting Deputy Director at Thanyarak Chiang Mai Hospital and Assistant Director at the Princess Mother National Institute on Drug Abuse Treatment. His work has been recognised with multiple national awards, including the Outstanding Government Officer Award and the Public Sector Excellence Award for his contributions to addiction treatment.
Dr. Naranchaya Sriburapar
Clinical PsychologistDr. Naranchaya Sriburapar (known as Dr JJ) is a highly experienced clinical psychologist with over 25 years of work in mental health and addiction treatment. She currently practices at Thanyarak Chiang Mai Hospital, where she has contributed extensively to the development of psychiatric and addiction services in Thailand.
She holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology/Neuropsychology from the University of Kent and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Chiang Mai University. Her clinical training includes EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Addiction, and Art Therapy, enabling her to work with complex and varied presentations.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sriburapar is an active researcher and published author in the fields of addiction treatment and therapeutic communities. She also contributes through training, workshops, and public speaking engagements, and is a member of the Thai Clinical Psychologist Association.
Siphan Sawangwong
Senior Addiction NurseSiphan Sawangwong (known as Nurse Kaewta) is a highly experienced addiction nurse and former senior government healthcare professional. She previously worked at Thanyarak Chiang Mai Hospital within the inpatient rehabilitation division, specialising in the care of individuals with substance use disorders.
She holds a First-Class Nursing and Midwifery License and is a member of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. Over the course of her career, she has developed extensive expertise in clinical care within structured rehabilitation settings.
Her work reflects a long-standing commitment to improving patient outcomes in addiction treatment and supporting individuals through the recovery process with professionalism and care.
Nick
Addictions CounsellorNick Bodiford is an addictions counsellor with over seven years' experience working across addiction and mental health treatment in both clinical and support roles. His work spans a range of treatment settings, giving him a grounded, practical understanding of recovery in practice.
Originally from Texas, Nick's path into the field is informed by his own experience of addiction and recovery, bringing a level of authenticity and relatability that resonates strongly with clients. He trained with the Australian Institute of Professional Counselling (AIPC) and has since applied that foundation across a variety of real-world environments.
At One Step, Nick works with clients in both individual and group settings, helping them build a stable and meaningful life beyond addiction. Outside of his clinical work, he is an avid rock climber, often found on the limestone cliffs of Northern Thailand.
Fihn
Centre DirectorFihn Mordey has over ten years' experience working in rehabilitation and sober living environments in Thailand, with a strong foundation in programme coordination and client care. She began her career at The Cabin, where she worked closely with clinical leadership to support the delivery of treatment programmes.
From 2019 to 2023, she served as Director of Alpha Sober Living, overseeing admissions and managing international client intake processes. This role developed her operational and leadership capabilities within structured recovery environments.
At One Step Rehab, Fihn oversees the day-to-day running of the centre, coordinating all the contractors and services needed to run a rehab. She also oversees all the licensing requirements and governmental liaison. Her approach is structured, attentive, and focused on maintaining a consistent, supportive environment for recovery.
Nat
Operations ManagerNatthinee Aroonsilp (known as Nat) is a recovery support professional with extensive experience working across leading rehabilitation centres in Chiang Mai, including The Beekeeper House, The Dawn, and The Cabin. She is currently completing a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Chiang Mai University.
Her work includes supporting inpatient clients, assisting clinical teams, facilitating group sessions, and managing aftercare programmes. With over a decade in recovery and active involvement in a 12-Step fellowship, Nat combines professional training with lived experience, bringing empathy, structure, and real understanding to her role.
Growing up between cultures, she connects easily with both Thai and Western perspectives—and is often the first point of contact for clients navigating the transition into treatment.
Jesse
Recovery Coach & Team LeaderJesse serves as a Recovery Coach and Team Leader, responsible for overseeing the daily coordination and delivery of client care within the rehabilitation program. He leads the Recovery and Support Team, ensuring structured client management, operational efficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and effective interdisciplinary communication across all departments.
Drawing on extensive experience within the 12-Step recovery model, Jesse brings valuable insight informed by lived experience across multiple dimensions of addiction and recovery. His approach combines practical knowledge with empathy, allowing him to effectively engage and support clients throughout the treatment process.
With strong leadership capabilities, advanced organizational skills, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, Jesse is committed to fostering a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented environment that promotes sustainable, long-term outcomes for clients.
Phil
Recovery CoachPhil has over six years' experience working in secondary recovery settings, delivering more than 1,000 one-to-one coaching sessions with clients across different stages of recovery.
Currently pursuing a Certificate in Counseling at the Institute of Counseling (ACCPH), Phil combines professional training with real-life experience and a down-to-earth style that puts people at ease. His work includes relapse prevention, group facilitation, and ongoing aftercare support, drawing on CBT-informed techniques and mindfulness-based practices. Fluent in both German and English, he connects easily across cultures.
Seth
Client SupportSeth brings a calm, grounded presence to the team, supporting clients as they move through healing and recovery. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Business Management from Payap University and is completing his Master's in Counseling Psychology at Chiang Mai University.
With over 400 hours of supervised clinical practice and associate membership in the Thailand Counseling Psychology Association, Seth works from a humanistic, person-centered approach. He creates a space where people feel safe, heard, and accepted—without pressure or judgment—and works closely with clients throughout the programme on day-to-day structure, communication, and support.
Pom
Client SupportPom is a recovery support professional with experience working in structured clinical environments, supporting clients through all stages of the treatment process. His role includes assisting with daily programme activities and coordinating excursions that form part of the broader recovery experience.
He is known for his positive, engaging approach and his ability to build rapport with clients, encouraging participation in both therapeutic and physical activities.
Pom holds a bachelor's degree from Burapha University, a diploma in Hospitality Management from Sydney, and a training certification from Greenwich College, supporting his ability to work effectively in both client-facing and operational roles.
Mon
HR ManagerMon brings both structure and heart to her role as HR Manager, keeping things running smoothly while making sure everyone feels supported. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mae Jo University and brings over 15 years' experience in human resources.
Her background spans workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and organisational development, including leading full-scale HR operations in the real estate sector. She plays a key role in maintaining the structured systems that support both staff and the wider programme.
Honey
HR AssistantHoney supports the day-to-day operations of the administrative office at One Step Rehab, ensuring that internal processes run efficiently and that staff are supported in their roles.
Her experience combines a strong foundation in natural health solutions and operational efficiency. At Chiang Mai University, she worked as a Research Assistant focusing on approaches to enhancing health and wellness.
Nurse Dao
NurseDao is a Registered Nurse accredited by the Nursing Council of Thailand, with specialist training in emergency care and inpatient medication-assisted treatment.
She is experienced in clinical assessment, risk monitoring, and ensuring adherence to medical safety protocols within a structured treatment environment. Her work supports the safe management of clients throughout the detox and stabilisation process.

Brian Russman
Outpatient Sex Addiction SpecialistBrian Russman is an outpatient specialist in sex addiction, with over 20 years' experience working across mental health, trauma, and addiction treatment. His approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, with a focus on helping clients address underlying behavioral patterns and build sustainable recovery.
He holds a bachelor's degree in social work from Florida Atlantic University and a master's degree in clinical social work from Barry University. He is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes' model, and a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP). He is also trained in EMDR for trauma treatment.
Brian has over 14 years of direct clinical experience in mental and behavioral healthcare, including work within forensic and correctional settings in the State of Florida. In these roles, he supported individuals with complex mental health and addiction issues to develop practical recovery skills and long-term stability.
Jacqueline Colligan
Aftercare Practitioner (UK)Jacqueline Colligan is a London-trained therapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with over 15 years' experience in addiction, trauma, and dual diagnosis treatment. She plays a key role in supporting clients transitioning back to the UK following residential care.
She holds a degree in Epidemiology and Anthropology from the University of Newcastle and a master's degree in behavioral healthcare science from Newcastle University Medical School. She has also completed specialist training in Relationship and Psychosexual Therapy at the Tavistock Clinic in London.
Jacqueline has extensive experience delivering a range of evidence-based psychological interventions, with a particular focus on aftercare, relapse prevention, and family work. She has previously worked as a Senior Therapist and Trauma Lead within leading UK rehabilitation centers, supporting both individuals and families through complex recovery processes.
