Making the decision to seek treatment is the hardest part. Once you reach out, our job is to remove every obstacle between you and getting the help you need.

No Referral. No Waiting List. No Red Tape.

Most people who contact us are ready now — not in six weeks. That's why our admissions process is designed to move quickly without cutting corners on clinical preparation.

You can call, email, or fill out the form on this page. You'll speak directly with someone from our admissions team — not a call centre, not a bot. From there, we handle the clinical assessment, travel logistics, and treatment planning so you can focus on one thing: showing up.

The typical timeline from first contact to arrival in Chiang Mai is 3 to 7 days. For urgent situations, we can sometimes accommodate faster.

How It Works — Four Steps to Starting Treatment

From your first conversation to beginning your programme, here is exactly what happens.

1
Free Assessment

Contact us by phone, email, or through this website. You'll have a confidential, no-obligation conversation about your situation — what you're dealing with, what you've tried, and what you're looking for. No pressure, no sales pitch.

2
Clinical Review

Our clinical team reviews your substance use history, medical background, and mental health needs. We use this to build a treatment plan tailored to you — before you arrive. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you honestly and suggest alternatives.

3
Travel & Arrival

We help coordinate flights, advise on visa requirements for your nationality, and arrange airport pickup in Chiang Mai. You'll be met at the airport and driven directly to the centre. Many clients arrive from the UK, Australia, the US, and across Southeast Asia.

4
Treatment Begins

Settle in, meet the clinical team, and start your structured programme from day one. This includes an orientation, medical check-in, initial counselling session, and introduction to the daily schedule — therapy, fitness, group work, and structured downtime.

What to Expect When You Arrive

Your first 48 hours at One Step are designed to help you settle in, feel safe, and understand exactly what your treatment will look like.

Welcome & Orientation

You'll meet the team, tour the facility, and receive a clear overview of your schedule, house rules, and what the first week looks like. We keep it low-pressure — the goal is comfort, not information overload.

Medical Assessment

Our medical team reviews your health, current medications, and determines whether detox support is needed. If medical detox is required, we coordinate with our partner hospital for the acute phase before you transition into the programme.

Daily Structure from Day One

Your programme starts immediately. Morning meditation, individual therapy, group sessions, fitness, and structured free time. There's no "settling in" week of doing nothing — you came here to work, and we respect that.

Small, Focused Community

One Step is intentionally small — typically 10-15 clients at a time. This means you're not a number. You get genuine attention from the clinical team, and group sessions are small enough that everyone participates.

Practical Details & What to Bring

We send a detailed packing list and welcome guide once your admission is confirmed. Here are the essentials:

  • Passport — valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
  • Lightweight clothing — Chiang Mai is tropical; pack t-shirts, shorts, and breathable fabrics
  • Athletic shoes and swimwear — for fitness sessions, Muay Thai, and pool access
  • Prescription medications — with documentation from your prescribing doctor
  • Personal toiletries — though basics are available on-site
  • Light jacket — for air-conditioned rooms and cooler evenings (Nov–Feb)
  • Phone and laptop — allowed with managed access during the programme

Admissions FAQs

Common questions from people considering treatment at One Step.

In most cases, 3 to 7 days from first contact to arrival. If you already have a passport and are ready to travel, we can move quickly. Urgent cases can sometimes be accommodated faster — let us know your situation when you reach out.

No. You can contact us directly. Many clients self-refer. We also accept referrals from healthcare professionals and interventionists, but it's not a requirement to get started.

It's a confidential phone or video call — typically 30-45 minutes. We ask about substance use history, mental health, medical conditions, current medications, and what you're hoping to get from treatment. This helps us determine if One Step is the right fit and allows our clinical team to start preparing your treatment plan.

Yes. During the first week, device use is limited to help you focus on settling in and early recovery. After that, you'll have access during designated free time. Our team explains the full policy during orientation.

Yes. Once admission is confirmed, we help coordinate your travel — guidance on flights, visa requirements for your nationality, and airport pickup in Chiang Mai. You'll be met at the airport and driven straight to the centre.

Completely. Every conversation, assessment, and piece of information you share is treated with strict confidentiality. We don't contact employers, family members, or anyone else without your explicit written consent. Many of our clients are professionals who require discretion.

We recommend a minimum of 28 days. Many clients benefit from 60 or 90-day stays, especially those dealing with long-term substance use or co-occurring mental health conditions. Duration is discussed during your assessment and can be adjusted once you're in the programme. Learn more about treatment duration →

We'll tell you. If during the assessment we determine that your needs would be better served elsewhere — whether that's a facility with a higher medical level of care, a different treatment approach, or a different location — we'll say so and do our best to point you in the right direction. Getting you into the right treatment matters more than getting you into ours.

Your Recovery Starts With One Conversation

Whether you're enquiring for yourself or someone you care about, our admissions team is here to answer your questions honestly and help you decide if One Step is the right fit. No obligation, no pressure.
